V. Sriramulu and K.V. Rao won gold medals in the 22nd Asian Master Athletics championship held in Philippines

VDCA vice-president D.S. Varma welcomed V. Sriramulu (101), who won three gold medals, and K.V. Rao (87), who won two gold medals, upon their arrival at Visakhapatnam Airport on Tuesday. The 22nd Asian Master Athletics competition was held in the Philippines from November 8 to November 12.

In the 95 to 99 age group, Commander (rtd) Sriramulu had won a gold medal in each of the three events: men's shot-put, men's discus, and men's javelin throw. In the 85–89 age group, Mr. K.V. Rao had won two gold medals in the men's shot-put and 5,000 metre walk events.

Over 2,000 athletes were competing from 22 different nations. Recently, Cdr. Sriramulu (rtd) celebrated becoming 101 years old.
