Sarannavaratri celebrations began in Visakapatanam in a traditional way on Sunday

The city's customary Sarannavaratri celebrations got underway on Sunday. In addition to the general population, industrial units commemorate the event, particularly on account of Ayudha Puja. Up to the day of Vijaya Dasami, women worship Goddess Durga in all nine of Her manifestations. 

To commemorate Sarannavaratri, a city-based artist named Moka Vijaya Kumar created an image of Goddess Durga with millet sparklers. According to him, the portrait was created as a part of the strategy to raise awareness of the advantages of millets for health.
