NewsThe Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have partnered to establish a fluid and thermal sciences research center with the primary goal of tackling thermal management issues for launch vehicles and spacecraft.
In order to create the center, ISRO has contributed an initial seed financing of Rs 1.84 crore, which is anticipated to spur innovation and support India's space program.
ISRO's main research focus for spacecraft and launch vehicle thermal management will be the new institute at IIT Madras.
Complex thermal problems pertaining to the planning, evaluation, and testing of vital spacecraft components will be addressed by researchers.
The center intends to help ISRO's technological developments and operational readiness in space missions by utilizing the academic resources of IIT Madras.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed during a ceremony at IIT Madras by Victor Joseph T., head of ISRO's Directorate of Technology Development & Innovation, and Prof. Manu Santhanam, dean of industrial consultancy and sponsored research at IIT Madras.
Professor Arvind Pattamatta, who will oversee the project on behalf of the mechanical engineering department at IIT Madras, ISRO scientists, and faculty members attended the event.
