News EventThe Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) put up the "Fan Park" at R.K. Beach, where the ICC World Cup semi-final match between India and New Zealand was televised live on a giant screen, providing cricket fans with nothing less than a delight. A huge gathering at "Fan Park" extended their support to Team India, who elected to bat after winning the toss. The supporters were not let down by the Men in Blue either, as they managed to score 397 thanks to the explosive 47 of 29 balls scored by skipper Rohit Sharma, 80 by Subhman Gill, and 105 by Shreyash Iyer. The most sought-after 50th century by Virat Kohli was the icing on the cake.
When Virat Kohli beat the mark set by the great Sachin Tendulkar, the crowd sent out their loudest cheers. The cricket fans were ecstatic as their stars performed admirably.
This was the city's first arrangement of a "Fan Park." Cricket enthusiasts from all walks of life flocked to the location from 1 p.m., carrying tricolours and posters of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar. The live broadcast started at 1:30 p.m.
As Virat Kohli was very close to reaching his century, the air was filled with cries of "India, India."
A DJ, a light display, and traditional drummers from Kerala have been organised by the government to engage the crowd and create a stadium-like atmosphere. Food vendors continued to be a draw for the crowd.
At the scene, a posse of police officers was there. They made sure that the guests stayed out of the RK Beach waters.
