News EventThe chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Film, TV and Theatre Development Corporation, Posani Krishna Murali, declared that preparations are underway for "Nandi Natakotsavalu," which would take place at Sri Venkateswara Vigyan Mandir in Guntur from December 23 to December 29.
According to him, 38 theatrical societies throughout the state are taking part in the competition, which will include five categories. Speaking to the media in Vijayawada on Monday, December 11, Mr. Posani stated that the first round of the entries' shortlisting took place between September 6 and September 18, with the results being revealed on September 19.
Out of 26 entries, 6 out of 22 theatre groups were chosen for social plays, 5 out of 9 college-university groups were chosen for poetry dramas, 10 theatre groups were chosen for children's dramas, and the same number of groups were chosen to compete in the final. He went on to say that plays will be presented from 9.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day for seven days. He said that the three Nandi award categories—gold, silver, and bronze—would have 15 judges choose the winners.
Since 1998, the State government has been awarding ₹1,50,000 in cash to performers who have made noteworthy contributions to theatre. This time, theatrical organisations who have worked together in the field will get financial rewards, according to the chairman.
Mr. Posani Krishna Murali said that the entry deadline has been extended to December 20 and pleaded with the authorities of the Guntur Municipal Corporation to assist them in putting on the event.
