Amazon India plans to debut its fast commerce service, which is allegedly code-named Tez, as early as late December or early next year, according to news agency Reuters. Amazon will be entering the rapidly expanding Indian quick commerce market, which is now dominated by rivals like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart, according to sources mentioned in the report.
By 2024, the rapid commerce industry—which deals with incredibly quick delivery of everyday necessities and groceries—is expected to grow to a market size of around $7 billion.
Amazon had originally intended to launch Tez in the first quarter of 2025 but has since accelerated that schedule. The company's December review meeting, which takes place right before its annual Smbhav event, may be when the launch date is decided.
