10-day ‘Divya Kala Mela’ in Hyderabad; significant stride in empowering individuals with disabilities

A major advancement in the empowerment of people with disabilities was made when they displayed their skills at the 10-day "Divya Kala Mela" at Pickett Ground, which is close to Jubilee Bus Station in Hyderabad.  It gives craftsmen from across the nation a platform, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), which is a division of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The event, which took place from October 6 to 15, attracted hundreds of people to the approximately 100 stalls that were put up there. According to the organisers, the total amount of money raised was around ₹88 lakh.

About one hundred disabled artists, craftspeople, and business owners from twenty states and union territories displayed their goods and abilities in a variety of categories, including apparel, stationery, eco-friendly products, packaged food and organic goods, toys and gifts, and personal accessories like jewellery and clutch bags.

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board President, Brigadier K. Somashekar, concluded the event after Pratima Bhoumik, Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, opened it. The occasion was made even more memorable by the cultural performances of "Divyang" performers, which brought life to the celebration of inclusion and talent.
