The District app, Zomato's most recent invention, was released with the goal of improving customers' "going-out" experiences. The software, officially released on November 15, is currently accessible on both the iOS and Android operating systems.
Along with its main food delivery service and Blinkit's quick-commerce platform, it marks Zomato's entry into its third key vertical by combining eating services with ticket bookings for live performances, movies, sporting events, and more.
This launch is in line with Zomato's strategic plans to increase its revenue sources and fortify its position in the eating and entertainment industries.
Zomato's District app incorporates new features like movie and live event ticket booking with its already-existing dining-out services, which generate an annually gross order value (GOV) of $500 million.
The company intends to grow even further by offering services like staycations and shopping. These developments are expected to compete with well-known websites such as BookMyShow, India's first ticketing aggregator, which is supported by Reliance.
By connecting online and physical experiences, the move not only makes Zomato more convenient for consumers but also establishes it as a major force in the lifestyle market.
