WhatsApp has unveiled a new feature designed to revolutionize how users interact with voice messages—voice note transcription. Perfect for moments when listening to audio isn’t an option, this feature allows users to read voice messages instead.
The voice note transcription feature converts audio into text, making it easier for users to stay connected in noisy environments, during meetings, or when they simply prefer reading over listening.
How Does It Work?
Activating the transcription feature is simple. Navigate to Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts to toggle the feature on or off and select your preferred transcription language.
When enabled, transcribing a voice note is just as easy. Long-press the received voice message and select ‘Transcribe’. A text version of the message will be generated instantly, allowing you to read it at your convenience.
The transcription process happens entirely on your device, ensuring that voice messages are not sent to external servers. WhatsApp itself cannot access the content of your messages, maintaining its strong commitment to user privacy and security.
