OpenAI introduces Tasks feature in ChatGPT for personalized reminders and scheduling
15 Jan 2025
NewsOpenAI is introducing a new feature to ChatGPT that could transform it into a more personalized assistant. The feature, known as Tasks — currently in beta — allows users to set reminders and schedule actions for the future. Available now to subscribers of the Plus, Team, or Pro plans, this feature lets ChatGPT handle tasks you want done later, rather than just responding to your queries in the moment.
The concept is straightforward: you can ask ChatGPT to remind you about an important event, provide daily weather updates at a specific time, or even deliver a lighthearted joke before bedtime. Tasks can be set as one-time events or recurring, depending on your needs.
To access this feature, select the scheduled tasks option in the ChatGPT menu. You can then input your task and desired timing. ChatGPT can even offer task suggestions based on your conversation, though you'll need to confirm these suggestions. Some users may find these prompts helpful, while others might find them intrusive.
Tracking your tasks is easy. You can monitor them directly in your chat threads or via a new Tasks section found in the profile menu when using ChatGPT on the web. Modifications or cancellations are simple to manage, and when a task is completed, you'll receive a notification on web, desktop, or mobile devices. A limit of 10 active tasks is set to keep everything organized.
At this point, OpenAI has not announced whether the feature will be available for free users. For now, it remains exclusive to the paid plans, which range from $20 (approximately Rs 1,730) to $200 (approximately Rs 17,300) per month.
