Food festival in Tiruchi; over 50 commercial vendors, women’s self-help groups, school and college students participated

The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection hosted a culinary festival here on Friday to promote forage grasses and small grains. Among the crowd-pullers were cakes, pani puri, ice cream, and pizzas prepared with millets. Women's self-help organisations, college and high school students, and over fifty commercial vendors participated in the event, which featured a recipe competition. District Collector M. Pradeep Kumar officially opened it on Friday.

Early in the day, Integrated Child Development Services, the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, and others organised an awareness campaign about safeguarding girls.

First place went to Cauvery College for Women, with Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tiruchi, and Panchayat Union Middle School, Kannukulam, Musiri, placing second and third, respectively, for best stall.

Teams from Bishop Heber College, AIMAN College, Jamal Mohamed College, and the State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology were awarded special awards.
