Five-day ball badminton tournament hosted by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre began on Monday

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Visakhapatnam is hosting a five-day ball badminton event, which got underway on Monday on the premises of the GCS school in Anu Vihar, the BARC colony. The 38th annual Department of Atomic Energy Sports & Cultural Meet 2023–24 includes the competition. Eight teams are competing in the competition, representing all of the nation's Atomic Energy Department units: Ajanta, Dwaraka, Ellora, Golconda, Pushkar, Rameswaram, Konark, and Nagarjuna.

Chief guest R. Venkat Rao, honorary secretary of the AP State Ball Badminton Association, spoke about the significance of ball badminton and its distinction from other sports.

Honorary guests were M.V. Suryanarayana, head of the organising committee, and M. Srinivasa Rao, project director of BARC Visakhapatnam. The inaugural game between the Golconda and Dwaraka teams was opened by Mr. Srinivasa Rao.
