Fampay launched Namaspay, a UPI-powered payment application, designed for foreign travellers visiting India
03 Sep 2024
NewsNamaspay, a payment software driven by the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and intended especially for international visitors to India, was just released by Bengaluru-based fintech firm Fampay. The new software aims to take advantage of the expanding trend of digital payments by targeting travellers from continents including Europe, Africa, Australia, and the United States. It provides a smooth payment experience in a nation where UPI has drastically decreased cash transactions, especially in cities.
A one-time registration fee of Rs 1,650 is charged by Namaspay. In addition, there are fees associated with loading money into the app (4%) and withdrawing money (1%).
Even though they are small, these fees are a deliberate attempt to strike a balance between profitability and ease for international visitors.
UPI's processing of 15 billion transactions in India in August alone demonstrates how widely this payment system is being used. Because Namaspay makes use of this infrastructure, travellers who use cash or card money find it to be a compelling choice.
