Adani Group and Google partners to focus on adding more clean energy to Indias power grid
05 Oct 2024
NewsGoogle and Adani Group launched a collaboration to further their shared environmental objectives and expand the supply of clean energy in India. Through the cooperation, additional clean energy will be added to India's power system. Adani will deliver renewable energy to support Google's cloud operations. This sustainable energy will mostly come from a new solar-wind hybrid facility in Khavda, Gujarat.
The third quarter of 2025 is when this renewable energy facility—hailed as the largest in the world—is anticipated to open for business. By using renewable energy to power its cloud services in India, Google hopes to meet its 24/7 carbon-free energy objective as part of this project.
The US tech behemoth has been striving to have all of its cloud operations run solely on renewable energy sources by 2030.
A new solar-wind hybrid project at the Adani Group's 30 gigawatt (GW) Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat would provide 61.4 megawatt of electricity. Adani Group is well-known for its large-scale renewable energy projects.
With a track record of successfully completing wind, solar, hybrid, and energy storage projects, the company is well-positioned to provide commercial and industrial (C&I) clients specialized renewable energy solutions. Adani hopes to concentrate more on decarbonizing businesses with this partnership, especially in the merchant and C&I sectors.
