4th Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg; 600 competitors in the snow mountaineering, alpine ski, and nordic ski events

News EventIn the Baramulla area of north Kashmir, some 600 competitors competed over four days on the steep snow slopes of Gulmarg, to represent India at international competitions such as the Olympics.
Athlete Joginder Kumar from Haryana stated, "Khelo India Winter Game unfolds vast opportunities for the young generation to make a professional career and represent the nation at international level."
There will be about 600 competitors in the snow mountaineering, alpine ski, and Nordic ski events. Twenty female athletes are also competing in the games, with two each from Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
Because of the exceptional snow quality, Gulmarg in Kashmir provides unique slopes for training for national and international competitions, such as the Olympics.
Earlier on Wednesday, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially opened the 4th Khelo India Games at the renowned Gulmarg ski resort. In attendance was Nisith Pramanik, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sports, and Youth Affairs.
