11th edition of Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon 2023 witnessed participation of over 18,500 runners from across the country

News EventMore than 18,500 runners from all over the nation participated in the 11th Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon 2023 on Sunday, which is hosted by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation.
Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati and former Director General of Police C. Sylendra Babu flagged off the marathon runners, who raced in three categories: a 21.1 km half marathon, a 10 km run, and a 5 km run. Supporters were spotted holding signs and water bottles for the runners as they went down the course, which started at Stanes Schools.
Nanhen Verma and Lithanya Sree won the 21.1 km half marathon in the men's and women's categories in all three races; M. Sathish Kumar and Kiruthika took first place in the 10 km marathon; and John Kennedy and Shiji Anthony triumphed in the 21.1 km half marathon in the veteran category. With 10,100 runners, the 5 km event saw the highest number of participants—E.J. Joseph and Amuthanayagi—win.
The Coimbatore Cancer Foundation's managing trustee, T. Balaji, expressed thanks for the tremendous assistance from the government, event partners, and volunteers. The marathon's director, Ramesh Ponnuswami, said that the next edition will take place in December 2024 during the award giving ceremony held at Stanes School Ground to wrap off the event.
