Tiruchi Corporation to commission its 9.6 MW solar power park and connect it with the grid by March-end

NewsBy the end of March, Tiruchi Corporation plans to put its 9.6 MW solar power park in Panjapur, the city, into service and connect it to the grid. On a 13-acre plot of land in Panjapur, the Corporation began erecting solar panels in 2020 to produce 2.4 MW of power. Nonetheless, the site of the solar park was chosen for the construction of an integrated truck terminal because of its close proximity to the Tiruchi - Madurai national route.
Later, the solar park was moved to a 35-acre plot of city-owned property in Panjapur near the planned integrated bus terminal.
The local authority chose to install solar panels to build three more solar parks, each with a capacity to generate 2.4 MW of power, by utilising the ₹39 crore sanctioned under the Smart Cities Mission.
The creation of an integrated vegetable market, a truck port, a multi-utility amenities complex, and an integrated bus terminus makes the solar power park project at Panjapur extremely significant. When the solar park is put into service, it will save the Corporation a significant amount of money on electricity-related expenses.
