NewsThis week, Chennai airport will be implementing the DigiYatra system. The system which utilises face recognition technology will shorten queues at the entrance and security checkpoints and let travellers to complete the required paperwork swiftly and easily before boarding a flight. Trial runs have already been underway for a few weeks, and there haven't been any issues thus far according to officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The system would also be accessible at the domestic terminal. Users need to download the DigiYatra app and register to utilise the system.
As per officials, users must provide their name, phone number, and Aadhaar data. After that, they must submit the specifics of their flight before departing. They must also snap and post a photo of themselves. The passenger's photo will be taken by a camera at the e-gate after they present the QR code created by the app when they arrive at the airport. In a similar vein, individuals may pass through security and board without difficulty following a facial scan. Passengers on DigiYatra will have their e-gates.
The nation saw the initial launch of the DigiYatra facility six years ago. It has since expanded, and the technology is installed at several airports around the nation. Many people have expressed their displeasure on social media in the past about being coerced into using the facilities at some airports.
