NewsThe first cohort of the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) has been started by KRAFTON, the South Korean game developer behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The program's goal is to cultivate Indian talent by providing financial assistance, coaching, and direction to create video games of the highest calibre.
Amidst the growing prevalence of incubator programmes, KIGI sets itself apart thanks to KRAFTON's worldwide experience and dedication to the Indian gaming industry.
Head of the KRAFTON Incubator Programme and Advisor to the India Publishing Department Anuj Sahani highlights the brand's distinct positioning, supported by its popular worldwide goods and a strong pool of mentors from its foreign studios. The program's objective is to ensure that games are developed in accordance with international standards, not simply to incubate but to improve India's gaming industry as a whole.
KIGI provides its incubatees with a comprehensive support system, which includes a grant of $50,000 to $150,000 and a mentorship term ranging from six to twelve months. The programme targets organisations registered in India and is available to a wide range of game kinds, with the exception of real-money gambling and betting. KIGI, which has gotten about 200 applications, indicates that the Indian game development scene is expanding and shows that Indian developers are becoming more interested in developing PC and console games in addition to mobile ones.
Two firms have already been chosen for the incubator: Shura Games, which unveiled "Spice Secrets," a mobile game that blends puzzle challenges with culinary adventures, and ReDimension Games, which is developing the action-adventure game "Sojourn Past," which is scheduled for release in 2024.
