NewsIn order to implement Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments based on QR codes throughout Qatar, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Qatar National Bank (QNB) have inked an agreement. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) owns NIPL, a subsidiary that is dedicated to implementing NPCI's card programs and real-time payment systems throughout the world. It seeks to aid other nations by improving their infrastructure, consulting services, and technology support for payment systems. By enabling UPI payment acceptance across QNB's wide merchant network, the alliance hopes to greatly increase the number of Indian visitors to and transitors through Qatar.
Indian travelers stand to gain from NPCI's relationship with Qatar, as it will enable them to pay using their favorite UPI method at a variety of establishments, including duty-free shops, retail outlets, recreational venues, and hotels. Given that Indians make up the second-largest international visiting group to Qatar, this is quite noteworthy. For these travelers, the use of UPI payments will streamline transactions and improve their trip experience in general.
