Mastercard partners with boAt to introduce tap-and-pay functionality on boAts payment-enabled smartwatches

Mastercard and boat have partnered to bring the tap-and-pay facility to boAt's smartwatches that accept payments. Mastercard cardholders will be able to conduct transactions easily and securely right from their wearable devices with the help of this partnership.

With the use of this new functionality, which is incorporated into boAt's Crest Pay application, customers will be able to tokenise their current Mastercard debit and credit cards, allowing for PIN-free tap-and-pay of up to Rs 5,000 using a point-of-sale terminal.

Initially, Mastercard cards from a few top banks will be allowed to use the tap-and-pay feature. To make this service available to a wider audience, the firm does have plans to gradually expand its reach to include other institutions.
