The State government's effort, Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON), has increased operations with the goal of offering one lakh connections by December. According to a press statement from KFON on Monday, the firm has achieved its first goals of offering connections for homes and businesses, leasing out its dark fibre network, and implementing its Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network.
As of the now, KFON has 55,691 customers in total. 23,347 government offices have already been connected to. Furthermore, 27,122 commercial fibre to the house (FTTH) connections, 91 leased line connections, and 161 broadband connections for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) have also been made available. 5,222 of the free connections given to households below the poverty line (BPL) are now in use. Seven different firms have been leased a total of 5,612 km of dark fibre.
KFON has partnerships with 3,358 local network providers that offer last mile connectivity as of right now. The goal, according to Santosh Babu, Principal Secretary and Managing Director of KFON, is to offer the greatest internet service available at reasonable prices.
