INS Mumbai arrived at the port of Colombo on Monday for a three-day maiden visit to Sri Lanka

NewsThe Indian High Commission in this country has announced that the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai would make her three-day first visit to Sri Lanka on Monday, August 26, 2024, when it arrived at the port of Colombo.
The Sri Lankan Navy will formally receive INS Mumbai, the front-line battleship of the Indian Navy, according to a news statement issued by the High Commission on Saturday, August 24, 2024. "This is INS Mumbai’s first visit to any port in Sri Lanka and will be the eighth port call by Indian Ships this year," stated the statement.
"The Dornier aircraft provides a unique and critical capability of surveillance over the Sea Area of Responsibility (AOR) of Sri Lanka since induction two years ago," according to the announcement. The Western Naval Area Commander, Rear Admiral WDCU Kumarasinghe, will be visited by the Commanding Officer at the Western Naval Area Headquarters upon arrival.
In order to exchange best practices between the two Navies, INS Mumbai will host a familiarisation trip for Sri Lankan Navy officers while they are in Colombo. Together with sports matches, yoga, and beach cleanups, the ship will also engage in joint operations with the Sri Lankan Navy, according to the statement.
According to the press statement, the Indian Navy's locally constructed INS Mumbai, which was commissioned on January 22, 2001, would leave the island country on August 29.
