WhatsApp has introduced a host of updates on its Status features. After a series of leaks and reports, the messaging app has officially announced that it will let users put voice messages as Status updates. The current setup allows users to put pictures, videos and text as Status updates. However, soon you will be able to add your voice notes. Other than that, WhatsApp has also announced five other additions to the Status feature which includes private audience selector, status reactions, profile rings, link previews on statuses and more.
Private Audience Selector:
WhatsApp has announced the most awaited feature. Sometimes, when you post statuses on WhatsApp, you do not want everyone to see it. Now with WhatsApp’s Private Audience Selector, you will get flexibility to update your privacy settings per status, so you can choose who views your status each time you update it. Your most recent audience selection will be saved and used as the default for your next status. You can change it if you want everyone to see your statuses.
Voice Status:
After testing the feature for the longest time, WhatsApp finally rolled out the ability to put Voice Notes as statuses. “We’re introducing the ability to record and share voice messages up to 30 seconds on WhatsApp status. Voice status can be used for sending more personal updates, especially if you feel more comfortable expressing yourself by talking rather than typing,” WhatsApp said in a statement.
Status Reactions:
WhatsApp is also rolling out a quick and easy way to respond to status updates. Now users can react to the messages using emojis. You can now quickly reply to any status by swiping up and tapping on one of eight emojis. You can of course still reply to a status with text, voice message, stickers and more.
Status Profile Rings for New Updates:
WhatsApp has also introduced a new profile ring with which you will never miss a status from a loved one. This ring will be present around your contact's profile picture whenever they share a status update. It will be visible in the chat lists, group participant lists, and contact info.
Link Previews on Status:
When you post a link on your status you will automatically see a visual preview of the link content, just like when you send a message. Visual previews make your statuses look better, and also give your contacts a better idea of what the link is before they click.
These updates have started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. We look forward to people enjoying these new status features soon.
