Government launches the Chakshu portal which enables users to report suspicious calls and leaked phone numbers
07 Mar 2024
NewsAs part of the Sanchar Saathi project, the government has introduced the Chakshu site to combat telecom fraud. Users may report shady calls and exposed phone numbers using this page. The Chakshu portal will function as a central point from which the public may make requests on the Sanchar Saathi platform. The relevant authorities will then review and potentially take further action on the requests.
In addition, the Digital Intelligence Platform was unveiled by the Department of Telecom to enable information exchange for fraud prevention between banks, law enforcement, and other organisations. The current Sanchar Saathi site will be connected with both Chakshu and the Digital Intelligence Platform.
With Sanchar Saathi citizens can:
- Report any suspicious activity
- Check for unauthorised mobile connections issued in your name and report them
- Report lost or stolen phones
- Check the legitimacy of new or used devices before purchase
- Report suspicious international calls
- Verify internet service providers to ensure you’re dealing with licensed and legitimate providers
Together, Chakshu and the Digital Intelligence Platform are expected to improve the detection and prevention of cyber fraud, helping citizens safeguard their digital assets.
