NewsVenture Studio for Climate Tech With a $2 million fund specifically intended to invest in early-stage Indian deeptech firms with a focus on sustainability and climate technologies, NOW has made its debut in the country. In the next 12 to 18 months, NOW, the nation's first venture studio of its sort, plans to co-build three to four firms. It provides a special combination of monetary support, mentoring, and strategic guidance to aid in the commercialization of creative ideas in the climate tech industry.
Venture studios are a new player in the startup scene. They set themselves apart from typical incubators and accelerators by working with entrepreneurs from the ideation stage all the way through to funding and expansion. With an emphasis on a hands-on co-building approach, NOW's venture studio model offers companies $250K to $500K in investment per along with advice on reaching product-market fit, access to possibilities in the market, and validation of prototypes through corporate collaborations.
Notably, this approach is becoming more and more popular in India, providing a crucial lifeline to business owners in a difficult financing environment. In order to lower the world's carbon footprint and improve environmental resilience, NOW has specified the major industries on which it will initially concentrate. These areas include low-carbon materials, energy, electric vehicles (EVs) and mobility, food and agriculture, the circular economy, and industrial and supply chain decarbonisation.
By concentrating on these areas, NOW hopes to use deep scientific and deep tech-led breakthroughs to become category leaders in sustainability and climate tech.
