NewsThe airline division of the Tata Group, Air India, is going to open the country's first airline-operated Flying Training Organisation (FTO) in Amravati, Maharashtra. This is a historic development. The project supports the activities of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and is a component of a larger plan to increase the nation's capacity for pilot training. By the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025–2026 (FY26), the FTO at the Belora airport in Amravati is anticipated to be operational.
In order to facilitate training, the FTO will have a fleet of 31 single-engine and 3 twin-engine aircraft. Covering ten acres, the facility will include its own maintenance facility, dorms, digitally equipped classrooms, and a digitalized operations centre to ensure efficient operations and thorough training.
Further solidifying the region's long-term commitment to aviation training, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company gave Air India a 30-year contract to develop and operate this training facility.
The programme aims to instill a feeling of pride and aspiration in Maharashtra by encouraging youngsters to seek professions in aviation.
