World Breastfeeding Week celebration; Various awareness activities have been launched in Coimbatore

Several awareness events have been organised in Coimbatore as part of the World Breastfeeding Week celebration. On Tuesday, the police staged a breastfeeding awareness rally in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore and the Masonic Medical Centre for Children. The event, which was kicked off by City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan, was intended to raise awareness about the necessity of breastfeeding, its advantages for both mother and child, and the need to support and encourage women to breastfeed, according to a press statement.

The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) had a breastfeeding week celebration. The occasion was presided over by CMCH Dean A. Nirmala.This year, the milk bank at CMCH received 1,100 litres of milk given by 450 moms. With the help of Amirtham Breastmilk Donation, a total of 1,228 infants benefitted from breast milk given by mothers.
