Womens Fancy Bike Ride organised in Fort Kochi; more than 60 women participated in the event

In an effort to claim that the streets belonged to women as well, over 60 ladies took part in the Women's Fancy Bike Ride on Sunday in Fort Kochi. Women's Fancy Bike Rides are held in more than 180 places worldwide to promote equality for women in public spaces, according to the event's organisers, who saw ladies in vibrant clothing bike around Fort Kochi.

Sheeba Lal, the chair of the Kochi Corporation's Welfare Standing Committee, signalled the start of the bike ride from the Pallathu Raman grounds in Fort Kochi. The cycling route continued via Vasco da Gama Square until coming to a finish at Fort Kochi Beach.

The TD School Bicycle Brigade assisted ICE Sheroes, Kochi, in organising the event. According to the organisers, the Fancy Women's Bike Ride is held in India in towns including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Thana.
