Visakhapatnam Port Authority signs MoU with the National Highways Authority of India at the Global Maritime India Summit

NewsThe National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, October 17, at the Global Maritime India Summit being held in Mumbai, to upgrade the four-lane road from the Convent junction to Sheela Nagar to a six-lane one.Virtually speaking, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the gathering. In front of Union Minister of Ports Sarbananda Sonowal, representatives from the VPA and NHAI exchanged the memorandum of understanding for the ₹500-crore project at the inaugural session. The VPA and the Indian Navy recently inked another Memorandum of Understanding to build the outer harbour.
The MoU paperwork were exchanged by M. Angamuthu, Chairman of Vizag Port, with M.K. Wathore, Zonal Officer, West Zone NHLML, and Rear Admiral Nelson D' Souza, CSO (technical), ENC.
In the presence of Andhra Pradesh Minister for Industries, Infrastructure, Investment & Commerce, IT Gudivada Amarnath, the VPA and Trion Properties Private Limited inked another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create convention centres, IT towers, and hotels at an estimated cost of ₹900 crore.
