Versova-Bandra Sea Link will now be named Veer Savarkar Setu and Mumbai Trans Harbour Link as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Shivdi Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.

NewsThe Maharashtra Cabinet authorised renaming two major infrastructure projects in Mumbai after Hindutva demagogue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday. The Versova-Bandra Sea Link will be known as the "Veer Savarkar Setu and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will be called "Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Shivdi Nhava Sheva Atal Setu."
As part of the coastal road, the forthcoming 17-kilometer sea connection will connect Andheri to the Bandra-Worli Sea connection, and the MTHL, which is slated to be finished by December, will connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. Mr. Shinde announced his government's plan to name Versova-Bandra Sea Link and MTHL on May 28, the 140th anniversary of Savarkar's birth.
The Cabinet meeting, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and co-chaired by his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, also authorised a Rs. 100 crore budgets for the construction of a great memorial commemorating the Marathwada Liberation Struggle in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (previously Aurangabad). It approved 31 decisions in total, including providing free school uniforms to children of poor parents, which will benefit 12 lakh students, establishing a government agriculture university in Buldhana, nine new government universities with a budget of Rs. 4,365 crores, upgrading engineering colleges in the State as centers of excellence, and establishing a board for the welfare of unorganized workers.
