UNESCO Creative Cities Network ; Gwalior makde it to the coveted list in the 'Music' category while Kozhikode in the 'Literature'

NewsKozhikode in Kerala has won a spot in the 'Literature' category, while Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh has made it to the coveted list in the 'Music' category.
UNESCO Creative Cities Network has added 55 additional cities, including Gwalior and Kozhikode in India. On Tuesday, UNESCO published the news on its main website. The international organisation stated in a statement that these new cities were recognised for "their strong commitment to harnessing culture and creativity as part of their development strategies, and displaying innovative practises in human-centered urban planning." It further said that 55 cities were added to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) on World Cities Day, subsequent to their designation by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
The complete list of the new 55 cities, which includes Ulaanbaatar's crafts and folk art, Bukhara's crafts and folk art, Casablanca's media arts, Chongqing's design, Kathmandu's film, Rio de Janeiro's literature, and Chongqing's design, has been made public by UNESCO. October 31 is designated by the United Nations as World Cities Day.
As a result of the most recent additions, the UCCN currently includes 350 cities in more than 100 countries, representing seven creative fields: music, media arts, crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, and media arts, according to a statement from UNESCO.
