Sand is now accessible for usage by the general public and district government entities via the E-Sand App, according to the Udupi district administration.
Sand from rivers was accessible in the Kundapura taluk's Gulvadi, Kavradi, Balkur, Japthi, and Halnad villages, covering an area of around 18 acres, according to an official announcement issued. The loading fees are set at Rs. 300 for vehicles weighing up to 4 tonnes, Rs. 500 for vehicles weighing up to 8 tonnes, and Rs. 700 for vehicles weighing up to 10 tonnes.
Transport costs are set at Rs. 1,500 for small vehicles (up to 4 tonnes) up to 20 km and Rs. 35 per km after that; Rs. 2,000 for medium-sized vehicles (4–8 tonnes) up to 20 km and Rs. 40 per km after that; and Rs. 3,000 for heavy trucks (8–10 tonnes) up to 20 km and Rs. 50 per km beyond that. Transportation charges are calculated for the round trip.
