The PM Vishwakarma Scheme launched on Sunday, will revive the traditional crafts and trades

According to Pankaj Choundhary, Minister of State for Finance, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which was unveiled on Sunday, would restore ancient crafts and trades and is a part of the Prime Minister's goal of development for everyone. He stated at the program's introduction in Coimbatore that individuals working in 18 various trades will receive assistance with training courses, tools, marketing, and product branding. The ancient talents of the people were decimated by the British when they controlled the nation, and even after independence, these crafts were not resurrected. The plan, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was resurrecting the ancient trades.

Those who practise the 18 trades will now receive an identification, according to Vanathi Srinivasan, a Coimbatore south MLA. They would receive an identification card and various other perks after they enrolled for it. The programme may be advantageous for individuals who wished to study these trades as well, she claimed.

According to a news release from the Coimbatore Jewellery Manufacturers Association, the city of Coimbatore is home to 45,000 goldsmiths. Any skilled goldsmith should be regarded as a Vishwakarma, regardless of caste or religion. It recommended creating a separate ministry to advance the Vishwakarmas.
