The Delhi Tourism Department will debut the eagerly anticipated "haunted walks" on Saturday. The 'Malcha Mahal' monument from the Tughlaq era will serve as the starting point of the initiative's inaugural historical walk.
Malcha Mahal, located in upscale Chanakyapuri 1.5 km off the main road and hidden deep into a wooded region, has long been a source of intrigue.
Before it gained notoriety for housing a mysterious family who claimed to be decedents of the Nawab of Awadh, whose last member passed away in 2017, the Tughlaq-era hunting lodge had lain abandoned for centuries. The area is said to be haunted by the ghost of the family matriarch who committed herself here thirty years ago, according to locals.
The "haunted walk," which is an expansion of the current "Heritage Walk" series, will begin at 5.30 p.m. and go until 7 p.m.
The 'Heritage Walk', which includes stops at Hauz Khas, Connaught Place, and Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad), has been introduced ahead of the G20 conference.
The walks will be offered on demand every Saturday and Sunday, according to officials. It will last for an hour and a half.
