NewsThe Coimbatore Corporation's Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), established as part of the Smart Cities Mission, is planned to open on August 7. According to city officials, the ICCC, a 14.11 crore project with eight primary components, had a soft launch a few days ago and will formally open on Monday, August 7. Head of Technology Jai Ganesh, Development Head Shankar, and Smart City Architect Jaganathan Kannan will oversee activities at the centre.
According to a press release, ICCC provides a dynamic web-based platform that collects information from many sources and shows the most relevant information based on the context. The ICCC will include an edge data centre, real-time surveillance, variable display boards, a Coimbatore-centric non-tax analytical system, an Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS) for all 483 Corporation-owned waste disposal vehicles, biometric attendance management, air quality monitoring, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, smart street lights, and the integration of the grievances redress system.
During a meeting with a national media team, Commissioner M. Prathap stated that AVLS had resulted in a 10% reduction in overall fuel expenditures. He noted that the technology has assisted in reducing empty trips and long-hour rests taken by cars, resulting in significant savings. According to Mr. Ganesh, the centre has around 20 Corporation workers for operation and 40 for implementation. An extra ten people will be hired soon for support management.
