NewsAccording to authorities, the first unit of the first nuclear power plant in Haryana, which is being built near the hamlet of Gorakhpur in the Fatehabad district, is anticipated to start operating in June 2028.
Sanjeev Kaushal, the chief secretary of Haryana, presided over a meeting of representatives from the state government and the Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) on Monday in Chandigarh. He gave them instructions to speed up the relocation of HT/LT lines and provide 33 KV power connection for the plant's site from a different source in order to guarantee the project's continuous power supply.
In addition, Kaushal instructed the district administration of Fatehabad and the Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) to collaborate on a feasibility assessment for a connecting road from the National Highway to the project site.
Such an access route would make it easier to carry Over Dimension Consignments (ODC) and large lifts to the site, according to Kaushal.
Niranjan Kumar Mittal, Project Director, GHAVP, gave an update on the project's status and stated, "74% of the ground enhancement work has been completed. Additionally, crucial reactor components as well as end shields and steam generators for the first unit have arrived at the location.
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has so far invested Rs 39.08 crore in corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in Gorakhpur.
“This funding has been utilised for various development projects, including the construction of a metalled road along the left bank of the Fatehabad branch canal from Kajalheri to Gorakhpur, the establishment of classrooms, labs, libraries, and toilets in nearby schools, the construction of Gaushalas in Gorakhpur, the creation of a Turtle Conservation Park in Kajalheri, and the provision of a mobile medical van for free treatment and distribution of medications. In addition, initiatives have been taken to improve residents' abilities and award scholarships to promising pupils.
