The first-of-its-kind Indian Air Force Heritage Centre was inaugurated in Chandigarh on Monday

Chandigarh's first-ever Indian Air Force (IAF) Heritage Centre was opened on Monday by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The facility, which occupies 17,000 square feet on Madhya Marg in Sector 18, uses murals and artefacts to illustrate the IAF's participation in past battles, including as those in 1965, 1971, and the Kargil War, as well as the Balakot air attack.

According to authorities, exhibits will inspire younger generations and demonstrate the Indian Air Force's unwavering spirit.

The site has eight attractions, including weapons and model aeroplanes exhibitions. The aviation simulator is the main draw. There are now educational displays on aviation engines, aeroplanes, kiosks, machines/fixtures, videos on accomplishments and people, and guides.

A memorandum of agreement between the IAF and the government of the Union Territory, which was signed last year, allowed for the establishment of the history facility. While the IAF has installed the weaponry and equipment, the UT administration will be responsible for maintenance.

Banwarilal Purohit, the governor of Punjab and head of the UT, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, and Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher were in attendance.

Last month, the IAF commander paid a visit to the Indian Air Force Heritage Centre to assess its development.

Rajnath Singh also opened the Government Press building's CenCOPS, the Centre for Cyber Operations and Security, for the Chandigarh Police.
