NewsBy introducing the self-baggage-drop service on Monday, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) was able to cut down customer wait times by 15 to 20 minutes. At Check-In Row P at Delhi IGI Airport's Terminal 3, 14 autonomous baggage drop devices, including 12 completely automated and two hybrids, have been installed. Three passengers may be served per minute by them. The facility will produce boarding cards and baggage tags at the Self Check-in Kiosk, following which travellers may scan their boarding passes at the baggage drop and place their bags on the belt. This was described by DIAL in a statement.
The first step for passengers is to declare that there are no forbidden goods in their bags. The system will refuse luggage that weighs too much, and workers from the airline stationed at the drop-off location will assist the traveller. As of now, the facility has been accessible to Indigo travellers. However, five other carriers, including Air France, KLM, Vistara, and Air India In the near future, travellers of Royal Dutch Airlines and British Airways may be able to use the self-baggage-drop service. After receiving the necessary clearances, DIAL intends to make the option available to travellers from abroad as well, according to an official.
