Tamil Nadu Forest Department has proposed to establish a ‘zootorium’ at Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur

A "zootorium," which would include a 7D theatre and an interpretive complex, has been suggested by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department for the Arignar Anna Zoological Park near Vandalur in order to give kids an immersive educational experience. According to a government order released on Thursday by Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary to the Departments of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests, a 7D theatre will be built at the old auditorium on the zoo grounds alongside a museum and an interpretation complex with interactive displays to let people explore and experience wildlife in a novel way.

The initiative aims to pique children's curiosity about animals and the natural world, as per the directive. Under the Tamil Nadu Innovation Initiatives (TANII), a total of 4.365 crore would be spent over three years to implement the zootorium.

According to the order, $3.76 crore has been set aside for a 7D theatre and a touch-and-throw projection board for digital engagements in 2023–2024. Work will start on other elements, such as a Virtual Reality tour, selfie booth, multi-user touch boards, information boards, and cutouts, in the following two years.
