NewsAccording to S. Somanath, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), scientists exploring the secrets of the ocean may make use of the knowledge and techniques the ISRO has acquired in fields like using sensors to investigate the deep.
We have a significant task ahead of us as we explore the ocean's depths in addition to space. Speaking on October 31 at the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) ninth convocation in Kochi, he stated, "Space, the ocean, and explorations put us together on a journey of discoveries."
He claimed that ISRO has been measuring ocean surface temperature, wave height, salinity, and sea surges using satellites and sensors. It has also been predicting and warning of tsunamis, finding fish schools, identifying plankton growth, and researching the effects of El Nino.
The State government and ISRO will collaborate closely, according to Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian, to use ISRO's experience in protecting fishermen's safety and enhancing living circumstances for the fishing community.
He added Kerala will take a similar course when the Tamil Nadu government and ISRO agreed on the usage of the organization's capabilities.
"We can be proud that science and technology have helped our nation conquer the skies and the moon, and to set its sight on the depths of the ocean," remarked Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
He said, "We are now preparing for a groundbreaking journey to explore six-kilometer-deep ocean waters with the 'Samudrayaan' mission," in reference to the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon's south pole. The goal of this first manned deepwater expedition is to examine and evaluate the deep sea's biodiversity and general health.
