NewsSince the program's debut in October 2023, 3,148 individuals from Jammu and Kashmir have enrolled in different courses offered by Skill India Digital, according to statistics. Out of the 3,148 individuals, 485 women from the Union Territory (UT) registered for various courses offered by the Skill India Digital project; the district of Leh had the highest percentage of female enrolment, at 60%.
Significant enrollment figures were also seen in rural areas, such as Kathua and Baramulla, where the proportion of female students was comparatively high (28.39 percent and 20.40 percent, respectively).
According to the research, young people are enrolling in courses on new-age technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) in addition to traditional subjects. An increasing number of students are adopting digital learning to reskill, upskill, and become ready for the workforce in spite of the unstable environment.
Furthermore, the rise in female enrollment represents a critical turning point in the advancement of gender inclusion in education, especially in remote areas like Kathua and Baramulla.
The fact that women make up 15.4% of all enrolled students, with even greater percentages in some areas like Leh, says a lot about how the landscape of education in Jammu and Kashmir is evolving.
