Russia has launched an e-visa facility for Indians from August 1, allowing travellers to the country to surpass the hassles of obtaining a regular visa

From August 1, Russia will provide an e-visa service to Indians, allowing them to avoid the difficulties of acquiring a traditional visa. The e-visa service, which is also accessible to visitors from 54 other countries, eliminates the need to visit consulates or embassies.

Here are some important considerations to remember while applying for an e-visa:

  • To obtain an e-visa, fill out an application on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia's website no earlier than 40 days and no later than four days before the scheduled travel.
  • The provided e-visa is valid for 60 days from the date of issue and permits travellers to remain in Russia for 16 days.
  • An e-visa application requires a digital picture and a scan of the passport's information page.
  • It will enable for travel as a guest, business, or tourist, as well as participation in scientific, cultural, sociopolitical, economic, and sporting activities.
  • The Russian Federation's Ministry of Internal Affairs or its territorial bodies will extend an e-visa at the place of migration registration of a foreign citizen at the place of stay, and if there is no migration registration at the place of stay - at the place of actual stay by issuing an ordinary (not electronic) visa.
  • Your application's status may be as follows: "Draft" (means that the application has been partially completed or has not yet been sent for processing); "Awaiting payment" (means that the consular fee has not yet been paid or has not yet been processed); "Accepted for processing" (means that the application is being processed); "Returned for editing" (means that incorrect information was discovered during the application's processing). Corrections must be made before resubmitting the application for processing); "Processing completed" (decision on the application has been made).
