On a visit to the Bengaluru-based defence public sector company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a flight on a homegrown Tejas aircraft on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi termed the experience as “incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering his confidence in our country’s indigenous capabilities”.
PM Modi wrote on X (Twitter): “Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our country’s indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential.”
PM Modi is visiting the production plant of HAL in Bengaluru. HAL representatives and the chief of the Karnataka police greeted him. PM Modi is expected to travel to Telangana from Bengaluru in order to campaign for the state's November 30 assembly election.
The Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, President Droupadi Murmu, made a sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam in April of this year. The aeroplane was travelling at around 800 kilometres per hour and roughly two kilometres above sea level.
In October of this year, HAL delivered the first trainer variant of the twin-seater LCA Tejas to the Indian Air Force. According to the HAL, seven additional LCA twin-seater aircraft would be supplied the next year.
