PM Narendra Modi to flag of RAPIDX train connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot marking the launch of the RRTS in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the priority part of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor on Friday. He will officially open the RRTS in India by flagging off a RAPIDX train that runs between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot. Through the stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai, the 17-kilometer priority segment of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS line would link Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.

Passengers will be able to use the priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai depot starting on October 21, one day after it opens. There are five stations on this section: Duhai, Guldhar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, and Duhai Depot.

Benefits:

  • A plethora of commuter-centric features, including ergonomically designed 2x2 transverse seating, wide standing space, luggage racks, CCTV cameras, laptop or mobile charging facilities, dynamic route maps, auto control ambient lighting system, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and other amenities, will be available on these fully airconditioned RAPIDX trains, which have an operational speed of 160 kmph.
  • The RAPIDX trains will run from dawn until eleven at night. There will be 15 minutes between train operations.
  • There are six carriages on each RAPIDX train, which can accommodate 1,700 passengers in a standing and seated configuration. The basic coach has 72 seats, while the luxury coach has 62 seats.
  • The minimum and maximum fares for normal coaches are Rs 20 and Rs 50, respectively, per person. The minimum and maximum fares for premium coaches are Rs 40 and Rs 100, respectively, per person.
  • Every RAPIDX train has a designated women's carriage, located adjacent to the premium coach. Additionally, every coach has seats set aside for women, those with disabilities, and older persons.
  • Numerous extra amenities geared towards commuters, such as magazine holders, coat hooks, reclining seats, and footrests, will be available on the train's premium carriage. The premium coach will be the first to depart Delhi for Meerut and the last to depart Meerut for Delhi.
  • Only a premium lounge at the station will provide access to the Premium Coach. It will contain cosy, padded seats as well as a vending machine where customers may purchase drinks or snacks.
  • Each train will have an attendant assigned to it, who will be crucial in introducing passengers to the amenities. They will help travellers from their stationed position in the luxury carriage.

Purchasing tickets:

  • Commuters have many alternatives for purchasing tickets, including a one-time ticket based on a QR code or a transit option based on cards for all trips. The paper ticket with a QR code may be purchased at the RAPIDX station ticket counters or created by Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).
  • The TVMs will have the capability to make payments using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which can also be utilised to replenish the balance of a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) that travellers may utilise on any trip.
  • To purchase tickets from TVM, travellers can use cash, credit cards, National Common Mobility cards, and UPI.
  • The 'One Nation, One Card' initiative of the government will be in line with the NCMC cards. It will enable the use of a single card for all transport systems and anywhere that accepts card payments.
  • Moreover, a digital ticket based on a QR code may be created via the NCRTC's "RAPIDX Connect" smartphone application.

Mobility Partners and faciliies:

  • Two mobility companies and the NCRTC have an agreement in place for transit-based feeder services, which will run e-rickshaws from RRTS stations. When demand rises, these operators will then send out more larger trucks based on the needs.
  • These mobility partners have proposed approximate routes from each of the priority section stations to guarantee thorough coverage of the surrounding areas.
  • These roads would cover a distance of around 9 km and will travel through important rural communities including Bikanpur, Milak Chakarpur, Shahpur Nij Morta, Basantpur Senthali, and Atour Nagla in addition to urban regions like Raj Nagar Extension, Jagriti Vihar, and GDA Colony.
  • Wheelchairs and stretchers are welcome in the final carriage of the RAPIDX trains, which are designed to make travel easier.
  • On the platform of the station, commuters can use the electronic public display to find out when the next train is anticipated to arrive. At regular intervals, the station will also make announcements on the arrival of the train and other pertinent information.

At the RAPIDX stations, commuters may inquire about train services at the Information Desk. Additionally, RAPIDX social media sites and the mobile application "RAPIDX Connect" will provide access to this information. As an alternative, 08069651515 can be used to reach the RAPIDX Customer Service Centre.
