PM Narendra Modi inaugurated a global centre for excellence for the Global South countries called DAKSHIN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, On Friday, officially opened DAKSHIN, a worldwide centre of excellence for the worldwide South nations. The prime minister mentioned that at the inaugural Voice of Global South Summit in January of this year, he had suggested creating the institution. At the start of the Second Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Modi stated, "At the first Voice of Global South Summit, I had suggested creating a Global South Centre of Excellence for the Global South. The opening of the Dakshin Development and Knowledge Sharing Initiative Global South Centre for Excellence today makes me glad."

"During the G20 Summit, I on behalf of India proposed to launch a satellite for monitoring weather and climate monitoring for Global South. We are working on it at a fast pace," PM Modi said. 

PM Modi emphasised the significance of the Global South, stating that although it has always existed physically, it is now gaining voice for the first time as a result of collaborative efforts.

"Geographically, the Global South has always existed, but it is getting a voice for the first time, and this is because of the joint efforts. We are more than 100 countries but our priorities are similar," he said.

The virtual format of the Second Voice of Global South Summit is being used. The primary objective of the Second Voice of Global South Summit is to disseminate to the nations of the Global South the significant results attained in the several G20 summits under India's presidency. 

In addition, the Summit will provide a forum for talking about how to maintain the momentum created in favour of our shared goal of a more progressive, inclusive, and representative global order. 

There will be ten sessions at the second VOGSS. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would host the opening and closing sessions at the Head of State or Government level.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the themes of the first leaders' meeting are "Together, for Everyone's Growth, with Everyone's Trust" and "Global South: Together for One Future" for the final leaders' meeting.
