NewsOne Namma Metro prototype coach has been unveiled by the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) factory. BMRCL plans to use this coach on the forthcoming Yellow Line, which is anticipated to begin service in February 2024. The prototype was just released, and BMRCL insiders say the city may see it next month.
The Chinese business was awarded a contract of ₹1,578 crore in 2019 to provide BMRCL with 216 metro coaches. However, because they had not set up a manufacturing facility in India as required, they were unable to execute the terms of the contract.
"The company will provide the six-coach train prototype sets, which have already been implemented. The remaining coaches will be delivered to BMRCL gradually." An official from BMRCL stated that the authorities had been to China in order to examine and expedite the coaches' transportation.
An agreement has been signed between CRRC and an Indian business to manufacture coaches. The official said, "We anticipate the arrival of these coaches, which will be deployed on the R.V. Road – Bommasandra route.
By the following year, the 19-kilometer elevated Yellow Line, known as the R.V. Road - Bommasandra line of Namma Metro, should be operational.
