NIT-K launched its E-Mobility management system to optimise usage of a fleet of EV on the campus

The E-Mobility management system, which integrates artificial intelligence (AI) to maximise the use of a fleet of electric cars on campus, was introduced by the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, on Friday, December 15. The Institute's E-Mobility team, under the direction of U. Pruthviraj, the project director of the E-Mobility Team at the Centre for System Design (CSD), and K.V. Gangadharan, the CSD Coordinator, has created a varied fleet of electric cars. It consists of fifteen e-cycles, five e-scooters, two e-bikes, an e-trike for collecting organic garbage, and a quad bike made especially for people with physical disabilities. The group also designed "URJA," a solar-powered charging station.

The team has created a new management system that uses AI algorithms to forecast demand patterns and improve the deployment and routing of these vehicles around the campus, according to a news statement from NIT-K. The fleet of electric vehicles has a longer lifespan because to the system's predictive maintenance capability, which also improves vehicle dependability. In order to dynamically manage the charging infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to assess historical data, real-time consumption, and campus activities.

Additionally, the AI algorithms examine trends in energy use and modify car charging schedules to reduce peak demands. The new e-mobility system gives statistics on energy savings, sustainability accomplishments, and emissions reduction. It also connects with the campus's current infrastructure and analyses environmental effect. According to the announcement, the new system has been built to be both scalable and adaptive to changing campus requirements and future technology.
