NewsThe Metro Mitra app has finally been released in the city and is now available at the Jayanagar metro station after several days of uncertainty. The app, developed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) in collaboration with the Autorickshaw Drivers Union (ADU), aims to improve first and last-mile connectivity from and to metro stations. Commuters must purchase a Metro ticket using the BMRCL app or through its WhatsApp chatbot function in order to utilise the Metro Mitra app. An estimated fare appears after entering the destination within the app. After making a reservation, the commuter receives a one-time password and other transportation information. The passenger is then given the Metro Mitra zone. The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) paradigm is what the system uses.
All autos joining Metro Mitra will need to have distinctive stickers applied to them so that people can easily distinguish them from other service vehicles. These stickers will have a QR code that will enable users to access information about the drivers and provide reviews. The Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU), a member of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), raised concerns about the union's relationship with Metro Mitra, which caused an issue with the app during its beta testing in Jayanagar.
