Over the weekend, Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) was awarded with two prestigious national awards: one for its continuous efforts to achieve environmental excellence and the other for its expertise in supply chain and procurement.
The MIA stated in a statement that the awards highlight the airport's efforts to become the most customer-friendly, secure, safe, and environmentally responsible aviation hub by implementing the Vision 2025 declaration.
The 23rd Greentech Environment Excellence Award 2023 was given to MIA by the Greentech Foundation, New Delhi, at Sonmarg, Jammu & Kashmir. N. Sridhar, CMD, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd., presented the award to Shridhar Mahavarkar, a member of the airport's environment and sustainability team, recently.
According to MIA, the airport's efforts in sustainability and the environment as a whole are reflected in the prize. This was done in an effort to raise awareness of new environmental issues, show innovative approaches to combating climate change, and assist in better managing natural resources.
Globally, the awards are a source of inspiration for commercial performance, environmental management, and revolutionary action.
The airport's techno-commercial (TC) team won the CPO Award 2023 and the ISM India conference's professionalism in procurement and supply chain award, which were both hosted in Mumbai recently. MIA won first prize in the excellence category for suppliers' relationship management after submitting nominations under four different headings.
Additionally, it won second place in the categories of excellence in procurement transformation, cross-functional collaboration, and exceptional leader in procurement (Mahesh Bundel, head of TC).
